Your Role at Cabot

Cabot Botlek has an exciting full-time job opportunity for a Manager- Capital Projects The successful candidate will plan, develop and execute capital projects to meet scope, cost and schedule, and ensure suitability for purpose whilst meeting safety standards and completing agreed deliverables. The successful candidate will achieve Cabot’s capital investment objectives through process ownership and partnering with process stakeholders displaying drive and enthusiasm with a continuous improvement mindset and results driven, as well as assuring and increasing safety and comfort to employees. 

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Promote safety as the number one priority. Provide leadership to encourage a safety first environment at all times, and take actions which demonstrate continuous improvement with respect to health, safety including process safety and the environment. Ensure compliance with Dutch legislative and Cabot SH&E requirements. 
  • Take ownership for the site Capital Projects Long Range Business plan and ensure meets the organization demands and long term goals. 
  • Manage and lead the Botlek Capital department, consisting of 3-4 Cabot employees and 3-5 contractor resources. 
  • Practice Performance Based Management by coaching and developing employees, direct reports as well as matrix reports. 
  • Responsible for the right qualification of capital resources and make sure that training and instruction is given when needed. 
  • Leads projects through all phases of Cabot Capital Management system (6 phase methodology). This will include writing scopes & objectives, basic design, approval, detailed design, control & operating philosophy, construction, commissioning and start up for projects from $5k to $1m in size; of total portfolio $10m. 
  • Identifies, appoints and manages contractor resources as necessary to execute projects effectively such as Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partners, civil / construction trades etc. 
  • Communicate project status and highlight critical path activities in a timely manner to regional engineering function and the project sponsors. This will include monthly reporting on project costs, cost forecasting and reporting of project metrics. 
  • Manage project handover by incorporating the project into the site systems including, technical library information JDE records, instrument data base etc. 
  • Take ownership for the Safety, Environment and Process Safety Management processes when executing a project (Environmental compliance, MOC, PHA, PSI, PSSR, HAZOP) 
  • Acts as a business partner with process stakeholders to provide guidance in the evaluation of business opportunities. Increases the overall effectiveness of stakeholders in the capital process through ongoing coaching and training. 
  • Ensures that all areas of construction and contract facilities are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion. 

 

What You Will Bring to Cabot

 

  • Experience in leading both individual projects as well as managing a portfolio of projects and leading teams.
  • General knowledge of environmental, ISO, ARBO, NEN/DIN and safety rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to set quality standards and influence directly and indirectly managed individuals and teams
  • Experience in engineering projects, project management and working with external engineering firms.
  • Excellent Chemical Process & Equipment design & operation knowledge
  • Good Process Safety Management knowledge
  • High level of computer literacy, and PC applications (f.e. Microsoft Projects)
  • Enthusiastic, flexible and results- driven
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English

 

Education/ Experience

 

  • BEng Degree – Engineering, (Chemical or Mechanical or Chemical Environment)
  • Experience in chemical or related industry, with specific experience of project management and expertise in particular discipline
  • Site supervision in a construction environment, able to demonstrate high standards of SH&E performance and compliance.
