  • Position Summary

    The North Asia Commercial Manager participates in the design and implementation of the Energy Materials sales strategy for Japan and South Korea.  The position facilitates communications internally within Cabot and externally with the Energy Material market within Japan and South Korea.  The role manages, motivates and develops the commercial team to better achieve sales, technical and marketing goals. The Commercial Manager is also responsible for developing and managing Cabot’s strategic customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and marketing objectives.

     

    The Asia North commercial teams will report directly into this role while the regional business development teams will have a dotted reporting relationship into the position.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Establishes, implements and monitors individual strategic customer account strategies including sales and development plans.
    • Identifies customer problems or potential problems, troubleshoots possible solutions to the customer.
    • Identifies opportunities for innovation with customers through the commercial team, establishes these opportunities as commercial realities and ensures that products or services supplied meet market needs.
    • Conducts market studies, product and market development.
    • Recommends, implements and manages pricing strategies and administration of price schedules.
    • Generates, analyzes and communicates commercial information for specific markets, customer coverage, co-suppliers, other related organizations and the competition to better compete in the marketplace. Prepares and delivers regular seminars to communicate technical aspects of Cabot’s new products with appropriate technical literature.
    • Plans, prepares and monitors departmental budgets and expenditures to meet financial cost targets and objectives established through formal planning processes. Implements budgets, account strategies and forecasts that meet marketing objectives, i.e. volume, revenue and controllable costs.
    • Effectively practices Performance Based Management by coaching and developing employees.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor/University degree in Business, Science or Engineering discipline. 
    • 10+ years’ experience in customer account management.
    • Experience within the Energy Materials or Battery industry
    • Strong knowledge of sales and marketing theories and practices. Strong knowledge of Cabot customers, industry and competitive trends. Knowledge of Cabot businesses and products.
    • Excellent communicator and ability to lead and influence others. Ability to negotiate with external customers in order to close major deals, if necessary.
    • Ability to make presentations to internal and external audiences.
    • Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to oversee and manage regional sales activities and sales staff
