  • Position Summary

    Ensures on-going reliability, integrity and performance of manufacturing control and IT systems and Infrastructure within the company.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Ensures technical support of manufacturing Distributed Control Systems (DCS), telecommunications and IT Infractructure at the Loncin & Pepinster plants. This includes maintenance of local area network (LAN), servers, clients, telephone systems and changes, as well as maintenance of security procedures.
    • Provides second-level technical support to regional Help Desk or plant technical staff regarding manufacturing control systems, network, office systems and telecommunications.
    • Works as a liaison between the plant and regional/global IT. Participates in the development of IT strategies, policies, standards and systems. Participates in Local and regional meetings.
    • Works closely with the Engineering Department and plant technical staff in the support of engineering projects that involve process controls, ensuring new systems are designed and installed in harmony with current plant systems.
    • Participates in all investments in production equipment to evaluate effect on all manufacturing control systems.
    • Ensures sufficient computer equipment capacity related to all client/servers, LAN, process control systems, controllers, data collectors and interface equipment, as well as telecommunications infrastructure (voice, data, others). Takes corrective action if necessary.
    • Implements global/regional IT policies and guidelines, including proposed "best practices".
    • Prepares and monitors annual plant IT budget; prepares status report for Regional IT management.
    • Ensures maintenance of asset database and documentation required by applicable global or local regulations in terms of security, backup and recovery procedures, diagrams of network; phones systems configurations and supplier/vendor lists

    Requirements

    • Bachelor/university degree in IT or in Control Engineering.
    • 3 + years in IT technical support experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Detailed knowledge of IT manufacturing control (DCS & PLC) and reporting systems (Aspen) and instrumentation: Microsoft Windows operating system, servers, Ethernet networks, stationary and movable clients, office applications and security concepts.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnosis skills. Ability to use Root Cause Analysis techniques to trace problems to their source and find solutions.
    • Organization and planning skills.
    • Excellent customer service skills. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal customers and work collaboratively with others.
    • Ability to speak French and English
