  • Position Summary

    This position will lead the Manufacturing Performance Improvement program for the Specialty Carbons business.  The Senior Product Line Engineer will select the Key Performance Indicators to support business growth and priorities, and work with the Operations and Manufacturing Excellence Group teams to develop and implement continuous improvement plans.  He/she will also share best practices globally, and support and drive:

     

    1. KPI improvement

    • KPI definition and tracking
    • Continuous improvement plans

    2. Production assurance

    • Control plans / PCS optimization
    • Skill development including onboarding and training

     

    He/she will primarily support manufacturing operations performance improvement in the core Specialty Carbons network plants of Pampa/PDMC, Canal, Botlek and Tianjin, but may also support other plants globally with Specialty Carbons product manufacturing.

    Anticipate that travel could be 20-30% but will vary according to business priorities.

     

    General Job Description for Senior Product Line Engineer

    The Senior Product Line Engineer leads the development and implementation of key manufacturing performance and product improvement initiatives. He/she serves as key technical resource to enable achievement of manufacturing objectives aimed at improved products, operations, costs, quality, and unit reliability that support the goals of the plant/business/division. The Senior Product Line Engineer serves as expert for particular product line(s) reviewing product/process and quality specifications and provides broad technical support. He/she will work closely with businesses, manufacturing, marketing and technical support groups.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Provides technical support and leadership to multiple manufacturing facilities for problem solving and troubleshooting as it pertains to specific product lines.
    • Ensures manufacturing specifications are consistent with customer requirements and equipment capability. Supports the development of process control plans to ensure that customer needs are met consistently. 
    • Leads the selection and definition of network Key Performance Indicators
    • Works with plant teams to develop implementation plans to achieve objectives, transfer of technology, best practices, quality improvements, and other continuous improvement efforts including optimization of process control systems.
    • Ensures that appropriate procedures are in place to maintain the integrity of the manufacturing and management of change processes, including formulation changes, change of technical specification, new products/materials in production, and engineering changes
    • Supports capital investment projects linked to capability/capacity up to completion
    • Reviews processes and procedures on units looking for product uniformity and reduced off quality generation opportunities.
    • Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites globally to provide support, usually planned but sometimes at relatively short notice. Anticipate that travel could be 20-30%, but will vary according to business priorities.
    • Supports manufacturing technical team skill development including onboarding, training and setting minimum knowledge and experience expectations for key manufacturing technical roles.
    • Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.

    Requirements

    • Technical knowledge of process and product technology
    • Continuous Improvement techniques
    • Familiarity with Recipe and change (TRIS / MOC) Management
    • Knowledge of Plant Operations Condition Monitoring
    • Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering preferably Chemical Engineering
    • Minimum of 10 years experience in chemical manufacturing or process development
