  • Position Summary

    Participate in the development of key manufacturing improvement initiatives and support their implementation for all Masterbatch plants. Serve as the resource to address the assigned product line objectives aimed at improving operations, costs, quality, and capability that support the goals of the business.

    Support product development by leading the industrial scaling of new products that are developed for commercialization. Key areas for success are transferring technologies across all sites and laboratories, applying best practices, making quality improvements and supporting project teams in risk evaluations, PHA studies and technical safety standards.

    Job Responsibilities

    Safety, Health & Environment

    • Ensure that appropriate SH&E procedures are followed when managing process changes and supporting projects.
    • Ensure PSM and PHA standard are properly applied when developing new projects
    • Support safety by scrutinizing technical equipment and potential risks to people and plant

    Manufacturing Specifications

    • Participate actively in the process of establishing all manufacturing specifications and validate alignment between customer requirements and machine capability.

    Technical Responsibilities

    • Maintain strong equipment vendor relationship and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
    • Advise improved process control
    • Provide technical assistance to all MB plants and project teams
    • Provide technical support in new equipment selection, construction & commissioning & operations
    • Identify global technical improvements in capability and capacity improvements
    • Support the 4 Masterbatch plants and project teams with Process Hazard Analysis studies and implementation of Process Safety Management systems
    • Support external third-party manufacturing capability for outsourced products
    • Lead the compounding technology development on site, able to configure, develop and innovate existing and new extruding equipment
    • Support in product development trials reporting on qualification and recommended manufacturing parameters
    • Participate in trials management and raw material approvals
    • Centralise and address processing concerns linked to raw material issues across the site and the MB network
    • Work with Manufacturing IT, Support & maintain the IT reporting systems for Masterbatch
    • Ensure technical documentation is maintained according to Cabot standards

    Continuous Improvement for Manufacturing

    • Assist the Product Line Technical Manager and PSM Manager in developing continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation in the plants.
    • Facilitate best practice sharing between the manufacturing teams

    Requirements

    • Master’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering
    • Minimum 5 years experience in chemical manufacturing or process / product development
    • Technical knowledge of mixing process and product technology
    • Data analysis and interpretation: ability to gather, analyze and draw well-reasoned conclusions and to work with statistical process monitoring systems
    • Teamwork: ability to work effectively in teams
    • Influencing without authority
    • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) & Process Safety Management (PSM) knowledge
    • Knowledge in ATEX requirements
    • Understanding P&ID PFD process drawings
    • Safety Awareness
    • Fluent in French and English
