  • Position Summary

    EMEA Finance Director & Finance Business Partner (Formulated Solutions) is a new role in Cabot organization that combines the strategic leadership of the financial aspects of the formulated solutions business segment with the functional leadership of the finance organization within the EMEA region.

    As Regional Finance Director, the incumbent will oversee the annual budgeting cycle and provide leadership in the areas of accounting, control, tax, treasury and financial reporting for the region. Additionally, the Finance Director will lead and assist the corporate teams in the areas of governance and compliance. He/she will plan and execute functional business plans and will act as regional advisor in strategic decision making, while coordinating the activities with corporate Finance.

    As Finance Business Partner for newly established Formulated Solutions (FS) segment, the job holder will be responsible for providing strategic insights and support to the business leadership teams and the global business functions. The Finance Business Partner will lead the segment’s long-range planning and shorter term forecasting cycles and furthermore will advise, counsel and perform the necessary analysis to support the business leadership in making the appropriate investment, growth and commercial decisions.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Supports the segment General Managers and finance teams in the management of both the strategic and tactical issues in all areas of business management.
    • Directs regional activities in the areas of Finance and Accounting by partnering with site Finance Managers and their staff. Ensures sites follow all established procedures, practices and comply with legal entity requirements, where applicable. Partners with businesses and functions in the region to support required strategic analyses and decision making.
    • Interprets financial statements, cost data and management control reports to assist all levels of management in appraising their activities in terms of financial results and making decisions. Provides leadership in the conservation of assets, control of spending and management of cash flow and strategic financial decision making.
    • Works closely with Corporate Controller and Corporate Finance in developing new guidelines and controls. When new accounting rules apply, assesses impact on and provides guidance to EMEA region, Finance function and the Cabot organization. Develops implementation plan to ensure compliance. Manages the continuous review update, and implementation of global and local accounting standards. Researches and implements new accounting pronouncements. Manages compliance review for all finance and management controls.
    • Advises regional and FS segment leaders on critical financial matters and assists with strategic financial decision making. Communicates business results across both the segment and regional teams.
    • Sets overall direction for the annual regional budgeting process.
    • Establishes direction for the implementation of appropriate controls, policies, and procedures to ensure the provision of accurate and timely information. Oversees all activities as required related to implementation and modifications of global financial systems and impact on data integrity.
    • Ensures that internal control requirements are met in an effective and efficient manner with flexibility to adapt to changing business conditions.
    • In the absence of a regional controller, may provide technical guidance on all global corporate function-related accounting issues.
    • Effectively leads Performance Based Management by coaching and developing employees, direct as well as matrix reports, and assuring effective alignment with the matrix functions.
    • Opportunity to lead key M&A projects in line with Cabot’s “Advancing the Core” strategy.
    • Member of the regional Compliance team taking an active leadership role.


    • Successful strategic leadership experience working with and providing financial support to a demanding business entity preferably in global manufacturing organization.
    • Expert knowledge of finance, long-range planning, financial analysis. Strong knowledge of accounting and control principles.
    • Ability to plan, organize and manage financial and human resources.
    • Excellent analytical skills to oversee analyses and projections.
    • Outstanding leadership skills to motivate and direct a Finance organization across EMEA region.
    • Excellent communication ability to be able to communicate across the region and strong influencing ability to be able to engage and influence senior leaders in the organization.
    • Constant desire to learn and grow and exceed expectations.
    • Experience with US GAAP and SOX controls.
    • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting. Recognized accounting qualification CIMA/ACCA/CPA. MBA will be a strong plus.
    • Tech savvy – experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning systems and various analytical tools.
    • Proficient in English (oral and written), additional European languages will be a plus.
    • 15+ years of experience that should include: management of Finance & Accounting in a B2B operating environment, people leadership experience.
